Oh man, I’ve been sick at home for a couple of days, I’m pretty sure I’m going to get fired soon for missing so much work! And we’re going on vacation at the end of the month. Yep, totally fired.
Hum, ok, maybe not. But I guess between all my bad luck, I can thank my lucky star I have such a patient and understanding boss. Still though, what kind of voodoo curse did someone put on our household?! Oh the diseases never end!
In any case, how did you all like the video? I wanted to have a video of Gabrielle’s first year to show at her birthday party in Montreal. If I had more time to waste, I would have made an effort to gather all the beautiful pictures that everyone has taken instead of mostly just my iphone pictures. But oh well, better than nothing!
We took Gabrielle to a Ear-Nose-And-Throat specialist this week and he recommended we put tubes in her ears to solve her recurring ear infections and speech delay. He said his threshold for recommending tubes is 3 ear infections in 6 months and she’s had, what, 5 in 5 months? So she is definitively a good candidate at this point. Putting in the tubes is technically considered surgery and she has to go under general anesthesia just to keep her from wiggling, but really it takes 5 minutes and they just push a plastic tube down her ear. It is very common and really pretty safe, but it’s a little scary anyway!
Chris was a little hesitant to jump on the tubes and surgery wagon, but the doctor said our alternative is taking her out of daycare to prevent her from getting sick in the first place. It is nice to know that push comes to shove, we can pick up our stuff, move to Thousand Oaks, and have my mom watch Gabrielle while we telecommute. In the end though, the surgery seemed like the least drastic option with the best chances of success for now.
Our surgery is next Wednesday so I will let you know how it goes! I am looking forward to getting my talking baby back!
