Wowsers, it’s been a long time!
As I previously told you, we went to San Francisco and Monterey Bay. We left early Saturday morning (5AM exactly, and I got a picture to prove it!) and drove to San Francisco where we saw the California Academy of Sciences. The museum was great! There was a giant glass ball in the middle containing a hot-and-humid rainforest with loads of butterflies, a “living roof” and photovoltaic cells, a very large reef aquarium, a natural history exhibit, a you-are-killing-mother-earth-and-you-should-cry-yourself-to-sleep-at-night exhibit (I guess my biology teacher was right, intelligence is a lethal mutation).
After the museum, we drove to Monterey Bay (a 2 hour drive from San Francisco) where we had a nice anniversary dinner and a perfectly situated cheap hotel. There was a Ghirardelli shop next to the restaurant so we each ordered a sundae from there after dinner and OD’ed on chocolate.
The next day (Sunday) we went early to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I hadn’t been in ages and forgot how totally awesome it really is. After the aquarium we did the famous 17-mile drive for some pretty views, then headed back home.
I took loads and loads of picture and I don’t have the time this morning to post them here one by one (there’s too many anyway)…. so be sure to click on the picture below to view the whole album!
